How to Get Rid of Moles and Voles

Our seasonal Mole & Vole Control plan will prevent moles from invading your home and yard. Our plan runs March-November with monthly treatments. Our spring treatments start with a fumigation to kill all activity from late fall and winter. Then we continue with monthly granule treatments that repel new activity to protect your yard. Our plan comes with a 100% guarantee so we will come back in between treatments whenever needed. The best programs are preventative. However, if you have an existing infestation our expert pest exterminators can eliminate eastern moles, star-nosed moles, hairy-tailed moles, and various vole species.

Types of Moles

All moles have high metabolisms and must eat nearly their own weight in food every day. To survive they must root through a lot of ground hunting for their prey. Under proper conditions, moles may tunnel more than 100 feet a day in their unending quest for food. There are 2 types of moles found in the Mid-Atlantic. Lets review each of them.
1) The Eastern mole, also known as the common mole, is a medium-sized,  forefeet  are adapted for digging. This mole is the strongest of the group and is most often associated with tunnels and or mole mounds.
2) The Star-nosed mole is a very distinctive mammal, with black fur, and wide forefeet tipped with talons that are designed for digging. The palms of their pinkish and black feet face outwards. Their tail is long and hairy. The snout for which they are named has on its tip 11 pairs of little pink tentacles, splayed out like a star. These animals prefer areas with poor drainage, such as coniferous and deciduous forests, wet meadows, clearings, marshes and peatlands. They will also inhabit stream banks, lakes and ponds, and will venture into them for food.

Types of Voles

Voles are small mouse-like mammals characterized by short, thick bodies with small ears and stubby faces. Most are semi-fossorial, meaning they live on or beneath the ground. They do not climb and do not enter homes or barns. Being herbivorous, voles forage for plant material, such as grass stems and forbs in grasses, fields and meadows. There are 2 types of voles in our area.
1) The Woodland vole, also known as the Pine vole, is a small mouse like rodent of the eastern United States that is well adapted to burrowing. The woodland vole is active all year, day or night. It spends most of its time in dug just below a ceiling of thick leaf litter
2) The Meadow vole also known as the field mouse, is perhaps the best known vole in North America. They inhabit every grassy meadow and field across the Mid-Atlantic.
