Since most ticks like vegetation for cover, prevention is geared towards keeping things neat and tidy around your property.
  •  Trim back vegetation along the perimeter of your property.
  • Remove leaves around your home every fall and remove any leaf litter in the spring
  • Reduce rodent activity in and around your home as they are a major carrier of ticks.
  • Ensure your lawn is cut on a regular basis.  There is a movement to have “natural lawns” to promote the pollinators.  However, a unkept and uncut lawn will invite rodents and more ticks onto your property.
  • Inspect the foundation of your home and seal up and cracks and crevices to keep ticks out.

What does it for cost for professional mosquito and tick fogging - spraying services?

Cost for a home mosquito treatment depends on the size of the treatable area and if there is a warranty.  A single application can range from $60-$300 per treatment depending on the yard size.  You can always purchase a single treatment for a special occasion (birthday party, 4th of July BBQ, etc.) A seasonal monthly plan takes advantage of the best price per treatment and protects your family for the entire season.

Do you offer a warranty on mosquito fogging services?

Yes! Our 30-day warranty provides free retreatments in the event of heavy rain- in which case we will re-treat for free. Companies that do not offer a warranty will offer lower prices because they will not come back for free.

What is the mosquito and tick season in the Mid Atlantic? Are these pests dangerous?

March – October is the season for mosquitoes in VA, MD, DC and WV. It is important to start in March to kill any mosquito larvae eggs before they hatch. The Center for Disease of Control and Prevention (CDC.gov) cautions that May through July is the time of year when most tick bites occur. The Mid-Atlantic area is a high-risk zone for ticks. According to the CDC mosquitoes are by far the most dangerous animal on earth.  They spread 14 serious diseases to humans such as malaria, dengue, West Nile, yellow fever, Zika, chikungunya, and lymphatic filariasis.

Is mosquito and tick spraying safe for humans and pets?

The Environmental Protection Agency has approved some pesticides for residential mosquito spraying.  As with any pesticide, you must balance the health risks posed by mosquitoes and ticks with pesticide risks.  We recommend your windows are shut and children and pests are inside.  Allow 20-30 minutes for the chemical to dry and then safely resume any outdoor activities again – this time mosquito free! Spraying without proper licensing, experience, or equipment increases risks. We are licensed, experienced and have invested in the best professional ultra-low volume spraying equipment.

What chemicals are used in your mosquito spraying?

We use Bifenthrin which is a chemical that comes from chrysanthemum flowers.  We spray the chemical onto surrounding plants, shrubs and trees which creates a barrier against mosquitoes.  This same product works at repelling ticks from your property when applied to the ground.  Bifenthrin is labeled for use both indoors and outdoors and can even be sprayed in food-handling areas. Products containing bifenthrin are safe to use around people. It's also safe for pets when the ingredient has dried on lawn and ground surfaces.
